What originally began when Jerry Skagen was a young boy building row boats in a chicken house to sell at the local lakes has evolved into the Skagen Boats that is today respected by the marine industry as an expert in jet boat service, pump rebuilds and tuning, and retrofitting.
After spending time in the military and college, Jerry began working for Boeing in the fiberglass shop. This is where Jerry met up with Don Whitmore and together they formed the Marlin Boat name in 1965 building flat bottom V-drive boats. A true family affair, his mother sewed the interiors, his uncle did the rigging and built trailers.
Jerry branched off in '69 to focus on the Skagen Boats that is well known and respected today. In the '70s, Skagen Boats shifted its emphasis to the jet boat industry operating as a jet boat dealership offering the brands still well-known today such as Eliminator, Hallet, Honda, Kona, Baker, Hawaiian, Lavey Craft, Chris Craft, and Cougar. In one year alone, Skagen Boats sold over 120 Eliminator boats!
Towards the '80s, the need for new jet boats weaned and Skagen Boats emphasized their service and retrofitting business.
Driving boats before he could even drive a car, Tony Skagen has been involved with Skagen Boats since he was a young boy. Tony has perfected the diagnostics and tuning of jet pumps. With jet boats and racing in his blood, Tony is involved in numerous jet boat organizations including:
